ABOUT US
1st Blackburn Scout Group, located in Ottawa's east end, was founded in 1954. Since that time, we have helped develop well-rounded youth who are better prepared for success in the world. We achieve this by engaging in safe, youth-led, adventurous programs. The main goal is for youth to learn new skills, challenge themselves, work together and most of all to have fun.
Some of the past adventures include: camping, hiking, canoeing, archery, rock climbing, cooking, stoves and lanterns, fire building, knives, knots, Beaver Buggies, Kub Kars, Scout Trucks, Scout Trees, first aid, community events, and fundraising. All activities are carried out with safety and the environment in mind. The section programming is developed within Scouts Canada's guidelines with input from the youth and is based on their interests and skills. The Venturers and Rovers develop their own program, with the help of their advisors.
1st Blackburn Scout Group takes pride in supporting community events in Blackburn Hamlet and surrounding areas. We provide volunteers every year for the barricades at the Fun Fair parade as well as running a booth at the Fun Fair. We also volunteer annually to collect food and donations for the Ottawa Food Bank.
