December 18  Skating on Parliament Hill

Great news!


We were able to obtain tickets for public skating at the Canada 150 rink on Parliament Hill for Monday December 18.  This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to skate on Parliament Hill.

Please go onto Scoutracker to sign up so we know who to expect (Scouts and Scouters).


Please meet at 7pm at the Terry Fox Statue at Wellington Street and Metcalfe Street (across the street from the Centennial flame on Parliament Hill).  Our skating session is from 8:00 to 8:40.  Parents:  please pick up at the Terry Fox Statue at approx 8:45.  We were able to obtain extra tickets, and the extras are available to immediate family members on a first come, first served basis Monday.  To guarantee extras, parents are welcome to reserve tickets at


Information from the organizers:


·         To expedite the check-in process, participants are encouraged NOT to bring bags onto Parliament Hill.


Public Skating Rules of Conduct


Guests skating during the public skating hours are asked to obey the following rules of conduct to ensure a safe and pleasant skating experience:

  • Only persons wearing skates are permitted on the ice surface.
  • It is highly recommended that all skaters wear a CSA-approved helmet during all skating sessions.
  • Food and drinks are not to be taken on the ice surface.
  • Please report all accidents or injuries to the on-site supervisor immediately.
  • Hockey sticks and/or pucks are prohibited during public skating sessions.
  • Only E-Z gliders are permitted as an aid.
  • Rough play, speed, figure skating and multiplayer games (i.e. tag and races), foul language or inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated.


Please note participation in Canada 150 Rink programming and activities involves certain risks. For example, as an outdoor rink the Canada 150 Rink’s ice surface may be snowy or uneven and the site surrounding the Rink may be snowy, icy or uneven, despite best efforts to maintain the Rink and the surrounding site. Site conditions may also change quickly due to weather conditions or use by the public. It is recommended that attendees remain attentive to site conditions in order to reduce the risk of injuries and/or damage to property. Anyone taking part in Canada 150 Rink programming and/or activities freely accepts and assumes all risks as well as waives any and all claims against Her Majesty the Queen in Right of Canada, Ottawa International Hockey Festival, Capital Sports Management Inc., and Capital Sports & Entertainment Inc., on their own behalf as well as on behalf of any person for whom they are responsible in law, from any loss, damage or injury caused by his/her participation in any Canada 150 Rink programming and/or activity.
