Camp Crest Contest
It's time again
to start thinking about the Crest Contest for the year end camp. Attached
are the guidelines for the crest contest. Please have your submissions
back to Section Scouter by the end of March, either on paper or via email. Depending on the number of entries, leaders will meet to short-list the submissions and voting will occur before the Easter break. The winner will be announced soon after voting. Take some time and submit a design! Leave your mark on this year’s Year End Camp. |

Blackburn Activity Wear!
As in years past we've arranged for members of 1st Blackburn to have the opportunity to order dry wick t-shirts, hoodies and pyjama/lounge pants with our group crest embroidered on them. T-Shirts are available in red, hoodies in red or black and lounge pants in plaid. This year we're also pleased to be able to offer daypacks. Please note that this is not a fundraiser -- just an opportunity to get some one-of-a-kind activewear that demonstrates pride in our Scout Group. These shirts and hoodies are also acceptable activity uniforms for Troop meetings, outings and camps. Orders must be in by Oct 31st, and payment must be made in advance (cheques can be made payable to 1st Blackburn Scout Group). I'll have samples of uncrested garments and sizes at meetings between now and then for anybody who is interested, as well as a couple of samples of the finished product. If that doesn't work, please contact me directly and we can make other arrangements. The attachment has some information regarding sizing and pricing. Lastly, please be aware that in order to place an order for an item, we must have 12 orders for that item -- any less, and we may not be able to place an order for that specific item at the price quoted (or at all). ![]() |

Apple Day 2016
![]() Join us for Apple Day on Saturday, October 1, 2016. Pick up your apples between 9:00 am and 10:00 am at Emily Carr Middle School. Bring a fruit basket and a cloth to polish your apples and wear your uniform. Collection tins will be provided. Please return all monies collected to the meeting on Oct. 3. |
2016-2017 Scouting Year Registration
Dear Parent, The start of the 2017 Scouting Year is around the corner, and with it comes the opportunity for your child to join the 1st Blackburn Scouting Group and take part in the upcoming Scouting Year For parents who are looking for an opportunity to speak with the various Scouting Leaders, a registration night is being held at the Blackburn Hamlet Hall on 8 Sep 2016 from 1800 to 2000. Scouting Leaders from the various sections will on hand to answer any questions you might have. The Fee for 2016-2017 has been set at $225 and is payable online. From July 1 – December 31, a fee of $225 applies. For registrations after January 1, 2017, a fee of $165 applies. Note that Group fees for special activities are additional and will vary by Section. A new feature for this year is the Wait List function. In the event that a Section is full at the time you are attempting to register your child online, you will be able to place your child on a wait list by selecting the contact/waitlist option in Find a Group. This automated feature will ensure that requests to join a Section are prioritized by date. Further instructions can be found on the Help Centre’s knowledge base. Start of Spring Registration
Dear Parent, The start of spring registration is around the corner and with it comes the opportunity to get a head start to the upcoming Scouting Year. Starting May 2nd, 2016 it will be possible to renew your child online for the upcoming 2016–2017 Scouting Year in Myscouts.ca. Registering a new child or returning child in a new Group will be possible after May 15th, 2016. Information on how to register your child online can be found at help.scouts.ca. The spring registration discount of $20.00 applies until June 30 The Fee for 2016-2017 has been set at $225: Youth registered between May 15, 2016 and June 30, 2016 qualify for a spring registration discount rate of $205.
